This Amsterdam walking tour gives you a real taste of the city’s heritage and lifestyle all in the company of an expert local guide. Begin your tour by heading into the oldest part of our city. You will see the Old Church and hidden catholic cathedrals, surrounded by the red light windows. Learn about Amsterdam’s humble beginnings as a beer port by visiting a small brewery. Experience why the downtown is so popular today. Other sites downtown include, the cities oldest dike, Chinatown, and a medieval gatehouse.

Half way through the tour you will leave the touristy center after stopping at the Dutch East Indies House and head off to a more picturesque side of the city. In the canal district you will enjoy a more day-to-day life style amongst the 16th and 17th century canal homes, great opportunity for pictures. See some flower markets and local shops on the way. The tour takes you to the Amsterdam Historic Museums free gallery, and a glimpse of the Begijnhof. At the end of your tour you get to sample a local favorite, pancakes.
