Itinerary
Start this full day Brisbane tour at the Wheel of Brisbane. Learn about Southbank’s history and see some of its highlights including the Nepalese Pagoda. Continue past the Maritime Museum and over the Goodwill Bridge. Learn about the early settlement of this convict colony along the way. A actioned packed Brisbane tour!
Stroll along the Mangrove Boardwalk and view unique marine life that calls this ecosystem home. The boardwalk takes us through the tranquil Botanic Gardens. Please note that Old Government House is closed on Saturdays, so drink stop will be in Botanic Gardens or on the Goodwill Bridge.
Head to historic Old Government House and enjoy an iced tea. There’s free time here to wander through the building and small museum, and to take a virtual tour of the house as it was in 1900, something you cant do on most other Brisbane tours.
The next stop is Parliament House, which marks the start of the Heritage Trail. The Trail meanders past historic spots including the Mansions, the Treasury and Queens Park.
Wander down Queen Street Mall, the original main street of the colony. Visit Brisbane Arcade, a beautiful shopping mall built in the 1930s. Next head to King George Square and City Hall, with its famous clock tower. After photo opportunities, board a bus to get a quick glimpse of the rest of the CBD. Buses dont run on weekends, so we instead head to Anzac Square, next to Central Station before stopping for lunch (included).
Spend time at the Brisbane Cultural Centre, an area that includes the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), Queensland Art Gallery, Queensland Museum, and the State Library. Be sure to check out some of their free exhibitions.
Head to the Roma Street Parklands and take a stroll along Rainforest Walk. Continue on to historic Wickham Terrace, home to the original medical practices of the colony. Stop off at the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest surviving convict structure.
Take a local bus to Mount Coot-tha for panoramic views of the city and Brisbane River. Take a short bush walk, and learn more about the Aboriginal culture, and gain an insight into their ways of life and history. Relax and enjoy the afternoon breeze while sipping on a local beer, or a drink of your choice while enjoying the views of Brisbane.
Finally board a bus back to the city, driving back along bustling Park Road and the waterfront.
