Itinerary

Start at the Wheel of Brisbane, near the Cultural Centre. On this Brisbane tour you will learn about the history of Southbank and see some of its highlights including the Nepalese Pagoda. Continue past the Maritime Museum and over the Goodwill Bridge, taking a moment to learn a little more about the early settlement of this convict colony.

Stroll along the Mangrove Boardwalk to view the unique marine life that calls this ecosystem home. The boardwalk then takes us through the tranquil Botanic Gardens.

Head up to historic Old Government House where you’ll enjoy a fresh iced tea (or drink of your choice). There’s free time here to wander through the building, and the small museum, and to also take a virtual tour of the house as it was in 1900. Please note that Old Government House is closed on Saturdays, so drink stop will be in Botnanic Gardens or Goodwill Bridge.

The next stop is Parliament House, which marks the start of the Heritage Trail, a small section of the city where some of the oldest colonial buildings can be found. After Parliament House stop briefly at the former site of the Bellevue Hotel, infamously demolished by Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen (former premier of Queensland), and learn more about Brisbane’s modern political history.

The Heritage Trail then meanders past historic colonial buildings including the Mansions, Land Administration Building, Commissariat, Treasury Building and Queens Park. These all played a critical role in the early days of the colony.

Wander down Queen Street Mall, the original main street of the colony. Also visit Brisbane Arcade, a beautifully built and crafted shopping mall from the 1930s. Exiting the arcade, head to King George Square and see the iconic City Hall, with its famous clock tower. After photo opportunities, board a city loop bus to get a quick glimpse of the rest of the CBD, heading past Eagle Street Pier and back to the Victoria Bridge where the tour ends.

As the bus does not run on weekends, we walk down to Anzac Square where the tour ends.
