Travel back in time while visiting Heroes Square, Andrássy Avenue and the 100 year-old Opera House. Admire the beautiful architecture of St Stephen’s Cathedral, have lunch with locals and stroll along the Castle District while your local guide helps you learn more about the real Hungarian soul.

Itinerary

Get to know both the left and the right bank (the Pest and the Buda side) of the river Danube in the stunning Hungarian capital. Start by exploring the iconic sights of the Pest side: Heroes Square, Andrássy Avenue, the Opera House, Parliament, St Steven’s Cathedral and Europe’s largest synagogue. Then ride the continent’s oldest subway, whose first passengers were Sissy and Franz Joseph.

During a short lunch break at the Central Market Hall you’ll have the chance to taste some local food: sausages with mustard, a goulash soup or lángos – a special pancake-like, deep fried delicacy topped with sour cream, cheese and garlic. All dishes are popular quick eats in the city, and this is the perfect opportunity to try out some Hungarian words as you order!

Join the locals and take public transport, cross Chain Bridge, to the right bank of river Danube, the residential part of the city. Follow in the footsteps of Hungarian kings and wander around the cobbled streets of the Castle District. Learn about the history of Matthias Church and Fishermen’s Bastion and admire the view of the city and its bridges.

Finish with a walk down to the riverside where you can either take a bus back to the Pest side or walk over the Chain Bridge.
