Itinerary:
Experience the diverse natural environments, artistic triumphs and historic legacies of Cairns on this afternoon of discovery. Start by joining a local guide at the Esplanade Lagoon for a review of the local ecosystem, environment and native wildlife over a refreshing, cool drink.
Afterwards, head off to see two of Cairns’ newest landmarks -the Cairns International Tennis Centre and the Tanks Arts Centre. Both of these modern buildings help to put Cairns on the world map as an emerging cultural and sporting hot spot. Take the chance to learn about the Davies Cup tennis tournament and stop to check out one of the exhibitions featured at the Tanks Arts Centre.
Continue the journey to the beautiful Botanical Gardens, for afternoon tea and free time to explore. Home to a wide range of exotic tropical plants including Orchids, Heliconias and Cycads, the Botanical Gardens truly is a wonderland of tropical flora. Walk the boardwalk that connects the gardens to Centenary Lakes and watch the changing vegetation - Melaleuca swamp, paperbark trees and palm forest all feature here. Home to many bird species, keep your eyes peeled for lorikeets, mangrove herons, swallows and ducks while walking here. Possums, frogs, lizards and bats are also regulars around these parts.
If time permits, you may be lucky enough to try your hand at a bit of urban fishing, otherwise finish the tour back amid the buzz of the Esplanade.

Tipping:
If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.
