Itinerary:
Meet your English speaking local guide at the main entrance door of Bolivar hotel on Plaza San Martin, Lima Downtown.
Start your Lima Discovery Urban Adventure by learning a few words of Spanish with your local guide. Learn some of the history of the Bolivar hotel before heading out to explore the ‘City of Kings’.
Start by walking along Jiron de la Union, the pedestrian avenue linking Plaza San Martin to Plaza de Armas. On the way, there is the option of sampling the chicha morada drink and snack on churros. Head off the beaten track and travel to the central market. Stop along the way at the San Pedro de Lima church. Built in the 17th century it is still an important spiritual center for many Limenos.
Explore the stalls of Lima’s central market. On display is fresh produce from all over Peru – from the jungle to the coast and the Altiplano. Learn about local dishes, typical drinks and fresh juices.
Take a walk through the Plaza Bolivar. This is the perfect place to hear anecdotes on the history of the country and all of South America from your guide. Visit the Monasterio San Francisco, home to large underground catacombs.
Stop to sip on a traditional pisco sour in a local pub in the company of Limenos. The pub is close to the government palace and with luck you might spot important members of the Peruvian government.
This Lima sightseeing tour comes to an end in Plaza de Armas. You are free to continue your own personal exploration or your guide can assist you in getting back to your hotel.
