Explore Livingstone, it history and culture by foot. From the old railway cottage wander to the railway museum, past many old churches and the Hindu Hall. Visit the Court and Livingstones’ first hotels as well as other historical buildings.

Itinerary

What better way to get to get know this historical town and former capital than by foot. Learn about the important role the colonial period played in the development of modern Zambia. View the old colonial buildings, leftovers from a by gone era interwoven with today's city life.

This interesting walking tour takes you from the former railway cottages and the railway museum, past some of the old churches, the Hindu Hall and Victoria Hall and market. Explore the old alleyways and sanitary lanes, where street vendors now trade. Visit Livingstone’s first hotel and the old High Court and stop for refreshments in the bar of the old Capitol Theatre.

Continue on to the crafts market of the Mukuni Park. There’s opportunity to visit a few more interesting places before the tour ends at the Livingstone Museum.

Throughout the tour your guide will point out great places to try local cuisine.

Your trip

This trip is offered on a "join-in" basis. Maximum group size is 12.

Dress Standard

When packing, be aware that dress standards are conservative throughout Africa. To respect this, and for your own comfort, we strongly recommend modest clothing. This means covering shoulders and no short shorts. We recommend a mixture of loose, lightweight clothing and warm clothing for the evenings. Shorts should be knee-length. Singlets and tank tops are not suitable. Topless sun bathing is unacceptable.

Tipping

If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this trip.

Child policy

Children must be 6 years of age to 11 years inclusive.
