Itinerary

You will be collected from your hotel within the city centre starting from 7:00 a.m. If your hotel is away from the city centre, kindly be at the Kivi Milimani Hotel by 07:30 a.m. There will be a brief introduction meeting from your tour guide before departing.

After the introductions, we depart the hotel and drive towards the park, located 7 km from the city centre. Nairobi National Park is a unique wildlife haven located within sight of Nairobi city's skyline. Here, various herbivores can be seen roaming the park's grasslands. Lion, cheetah and leopard are some of the predators that can be spotted, together with over 300 bird species

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Here we have an opportunity to sample local cuisine and engage with the locals. After lunch we drive on to the Karen Blixen Museum, of the 'Out Of Africa' fame. This museum takes visitors back to the colonial period, reconstructing the lives of those who inhabited this region. We will see some of the original antique furniture and a re-constructed colonial coffee factory. From here we drive on to the Giraffe Centre, where we have an opportunity to interact closely with the endangered Rothschild giraffe. After a day filled with close animal encounters, return to the city.

Your trip

This trip is offered on a "join-in" basis. Maximum group size is 12.

Dress Standard

When packing, be aware that dress standards are conservative throughout Africa. To respect this, and for your own comfort, we strongly recommend modest clothing. This means covering shoulders and no short shorts. We recommend a mixture of loose, lightweight clothing and warm clothing for the evenings. Shorts should be knee-length. Singlets and tank tops are not suitable. Topless sun bathing is unacceptable.

Tipping

If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this trip.

Child policy

Children must be 6 years of age to 11 years inclusively.
