Itinerary:

Come and discover just how much beauty and nature thrives within the city limits as you walk, cycle and kayak your way around Seattle with Seattle Urban Adventures.

Start your Seattle day tour with a guided walk. Enjoy expert interpretations of local and natural history, architecture, culture, geology and urban ecosystems. Hear about the three fault lines that live under the city, visit historic Pioneer Square and learn about the Great Seattle Fire. Hear the history of the Space Needle, Smith Tower and Pike Place Market.

Meet your cycling guide at the Olympic Sculpture Park. The park, a former industrial site, is now a nine-acre green space for art. Take time to view the variety of sculpture on display here before heading off along stunning Elliot Bay. Continue on to Ballard Locks to observe the parade of sailboats, yachts, fishing boats and kayaks making passage. Stop by the fish ladder to watch salmon navigate their way through the 21 steps of salt.

After a leisurely spin along the ship canal arrive at Fisherman’s Terminal. Ride on to Fremont, the self-proclaimed ‘Center of the Universe’, and stop to enjoy some ice cream. Carry on to Lake Union and be greeted by kayakers, floating homes, seaplanes and the sparkling ‘Emerald City’ skyline.

Meet your kayaking guide in downtown Seattle. Paddle north through Lake Union, passing Portage Bay and the Montlake Cut. Explore Lake Washington and the Washington Park Arboretum; an extraordinary urban paddling destination, with narrow waterways and wetlands teeming with wildlife.

During your time on the water be sure to soak up the magnificent views of downtown Seattle. The shores of the lake are populated with floating houses. Keep a look out for the house used in the film ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ as it can be found floating here.

This is an easy kayaking adventure and can comfortably be enjoyed by beginners and the more experienced kayakers alike. Join this urban escape and look beyond the skyline, and the postcard views, to experience the wild heart of the ‘Emerald City’ first hand!
