Need a quickie intro to the city? Toss aside your guidebook and instead get the Vigo scoop straight from those who know it best: the locals who live here! This introductory city tour will give you an overview of Vigo plus handy info for your visit, straight from the mouths of locals – so if you want to make the most of your time in town, make this the first thing you do!
Join us for an orientation tour starting at “La Bañista” statue. From there, we’ll take a short wander around the area of the port area and old quarter of Vigo, famous among locals for its being the best place to go to enjoy a coffee on a terrace in the morning or tapas and wines after work.
Finally we will visit a local café that’s popular for its coffee and local pastries. We’ll settle in for a drink if you like (own expense but your local friend can give you some recommendations and tips on how to order) and you’ll be free to chat with new friends, make some plans together for later on and ask any questions you like of our knowledgeable Vigo expert.
Think of it as a city introduction tour, travellers’ meet-up, and info desk all rolled into one — get the tips you need to know from those who are in-the-know, then kick back and relax with some new friends in a new city. There’s no better way to tap into local life in Vigo!
Inclusions: Local English-speaking expert to answer all your questions.
Exclusions: Transportation to and from the meet-up point, food and drinks.
Your Trip: As this is a meet-and-greet with other travellers and not a standard tour, the size of the group may be more than our typical Urban Adventures limit of 12 people.
Confirmation of booking: “Locals on Tap” tours are meet-up experiences and therefore require a minimum of four (4) people to be booked on any given tour. Should there be fewer than four (4) travellers booked on your chosen date, you will be notified by email two (2) days prior to the date of your booked tour and provided alternative tour options. Otherwise if you don't hear from us and have your voucher, your booking is confirmed. We'll see you at the meeting point. Get in touch if you have any concerns or require more information via the email address or phone number (business hours only) on your voucher.
Additional Information: The meeting point is directly across the street from the tourist office. If you put the address Canovas de Castillo, 22, 36201 Vigo, in your GPS, it will take you to the Hotel Bahia. Directly across the road is the Estación Marítima de Vigo, and to the left of it the statue in the middle of the small square. As well, you will see a big shopping mall in front called A Laxe and the cruise ship terminal in front.
Depending where you are coming from, hotels in the port area are within walking distance to the meeting location or a short taxi ride. Just ask for the Estación Marítima de Vigo. There are two train stations in Vigo: (1) From Vigo Guixar Station, it is a 15-minute walk to the meeting location (or a five-minute taxi ride). By bus you would take the C2 line of the Vitrasa bus and get off at Plaza Compostela, then walk 400 metres to the meeting point. (2) From the Vigo Urzaiz Station, it is a 20-minute walk to the meeting location (or a 7-minute taxi ride).
By bus, you would walk to the stop URZAIZ (MURO ESTACION) and get the Vitrasa Bus Line L4C and get off at PORTA DO SOL, then walk 400 metres to the meeting point. This would take about 13 minutes.
From the Vigo-Peinador Airport, your best option would be by taxi, which is about 20 euros and takes about 20-25 minutes. The other alternative is by bus, which leaves right outside the airport terminal. Take the Vitrasa bus L9A line and get off at POLICARPO SANZ- 16 stop and walk 450 metres to the meeting point.
If you come by car you can park right at the parking lot in the Estación Marítima de Vigo or the A Laxe shopping mall.
Child Policy: Travellers under 12 years of age are not permitted to join this experience.
