Trip Code:TRUB Group size:Minimum 1, Maximum 12 Price:USD 65.00 Style:Heritage & History, Walking, Local Life & Culture.

Kaymaklı Underground City is our first stop. Drive to Soğanlı a typical Cappadocian village. After having a local lunch continue to the Keşlik Cave Monastery, an early Christian cave complex. Finishes with a visit to Sinasos, an old Greek town.

Itinerary

After we pick up you up from your hotel we ahead to Kaymaklı Underground City, which is one of the most fascinating underground cities of Cappadocia.

Then drive to the Soganlı Valley, an Open Air Park in a wild natural setting near a typical Cappadocian village with its traditional lifestyle and variety of cave churches and monasteries.

The Soganli Village is where the famous handmade dolls of Cappadocia are produced. Visit a small market where local women sell their dolls and other hand made crafts.

After having a local lunch in the village continue to Keşlik Cave Monastery, an early christian cave complex located in the garden of a local villager. The owner of the garden guides visitors to show them the monastery and offers tea and locally produced fruits.

The Medrese (Theological School) originating from Seljuk Turks in Taşkinpasa, is now a library and has stood witness over a 14th century Turkish settlement in the town.

As part of this tour, guests will visit a local handicraft centre where they have the opportunity to see local woman weaving carpets utilising traditional methods unqiue to the area. As a government-sponsored centre, the locals are able to learn and practice an art form that is slowly disappearing thanks to modern development. Guests are encouraged to interact with the local woman and experience the true Cappadocian hospitality.

Our tour finishes with a visit to Sinasos, an old Greek town with its spectacular old Greek houses, fine examples of late Greek settlements and architecture.

Your trip

This trip is offered on a "join-in" basis. Maximum group size is 12.

Dress Standard

Please be aware that the standard of Dress through out Turkey is conservative. To respect this and for your own comfort we recommend modest clothing. This means clothing that covers your shoulders and knees. Turkish people do not wear shoes within the home so we suggest easy slip on shoes be worn. The weather in Turkey is highly variable depending on the time of year. Winters range from freezing cold to extremely hot and humid in Summer (June, July and August). Please note that short shorts for both men and women are not acceptable nor are tank or singlet tops.

Tipping

If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this trip.

Child policy

Children must be 6 years of age to 11 years inclusive.
