Itinerary:
Avanos pottery is famous the world over for its intricate design and bold colours, and on this unique Cappadocia tour you’ll get the chance to see where it’s made and even to try your hand at making some yourself. After being collected from your hotel, drive to the small town of Avanos, known as the craft centre of Cappadocia.
Here, around 40 to 50 pottery workshops are in operation, varying in size from small family-run single room operations right through to massive ceramic factories. Some of these workshops date back over a century, and they continue to operate much like they always have, using the local caves as the base for their workshops. Pay a visit to one of these cave workshops, where you’ll enjoy a short demonstration by one of the potters, before getting a lesson from the master in how to throw your own piece.
Try out your new skills to create a unique souvenir to take home, before taking time to further explore the workshop, snapping a few pictures, watching potters complete pieces and visiting the attached gallery. If anything grabs your fancy, make the most of the special 30% off discount for any of the wares. With a new appreciation for Avanos pottery, and a unique souvenir to take home, transfer back to your hotel where this Cappadocia tour comes to an end.
