Itinerary
Travel on the metro to the old part of Delhi with our local guide. There's a chance to kick start the day with a cup of chai before diving into the sights, sounds and smells of Old Delhi.
This part of town includes street food good, markets, bazaars, temples and famous historical sites which we will visit. There is plenty of opportunity to stop and sample a samosa from a street stall. Goods on offer range from wedding paraphernalia to cow dung on a string. As a walking trip we will walk through narrow alley ways to visit the people, sites and smells of Old Delhi and no two trips will be the same as there is always something happening in this part of town, our local guide will take us on a real life experience which allows us to lose ourselves.
Stops include significant historical sights linked to the 1857 Mutiny (also known as India's First War of Independence) which was ruthless put down by British colonial forces and was a precursor to a later more peaceful struggle for independence led by Mahatma Gandhi in the early 1900's. Our local guide will provide us with a background into India's more recent history and struggle for independence.
We will visit local temples dedicated to the various Hindu gods where our local guide will give us an insight into the religion of Hinduism.
At the end of the trip you are free for personal exploration or alternatively your local guide can assist with arranging a taxi back to your hotel.
