Itinerary
Meet by Starbucks Coffee inside the main lobby of Waterfront Station, 601 Cordova Street. Experience the amazing architecture and site of the train, Seabus, and subway transit hub along the country’s largest harbour.
Walk into historic Gastown, Vancouver’s birthplace. This is where urban hip meets old town. Enjoy cobbled streets, heritage buildings, native galleries and unique commercial activity. Explore various sites like “Blood Alley,” a beautiful side-street with an infamous legend and the famous Steam Clock. Whether it’s the tale of Gassy Jack, the inspiring architecture or the diverse window-shopping, you will love Gastown’s mix of old and new. A surprise tasting at the Irish Heather marks the half way point of the tour.
Walk through the new Carrall Street pedestrian zone to Chinatown to get an up-close view of this fascinating culture. Guests will be guided through the lively Chinese market, herbal medicine shops and historical alleys. Marvel at the Asian architecture, the magnificent Han Dynasty Bell and the awesome Millennium Gate. A traditional tea tasting at Ten Ren Tea adds to the Chinatown experience. Take a peaceful break at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.
Chinatown, with a history of hardship and amazing tales, has a unique and vibrant atmosphere that gives an authentic Chinese experience in a North American City.
Located on the edge of the downtown Eastside getting to Chinatown will give you a glimpse into Vancouver’s colourful, grittier side.
