Halong Bay is one of the most loved spots in Vietnam for a reason - it's gorgeous. On this Halong Bay tour, we take you away from the hectic pace of life in Hanoi and introduce you to the tranquil, beautiful Halong Bay..
Our Halong Bay tour begins with a 3.5 hour drive, but en route we will stop off at the Hong Ngoc Humanity Centre, a handicraft outlet developed to provide support to communities in the area including people with disabilities.
On arrival in Halong City, we board our private boat for a cruise in Halong Bay, famous for its spectacular limestone karsts jutting out of the peaceful green waters of the bay. The views are spectacular as we cruise amongst the nearly 2000 islands that fill the bay.
You will see first hand why Halong Bay has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site since 1994 and announced as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature in 2011. Halong Bay means "Bay of the Descending Dragon" and legend has it that in ancient times, when the Vietnamese were fighting off foreign invaders, the gods sent a family of dragons to assist in the fight. During the battle, the dragons spat out jewels that would later become the islands that now are scattered around the bay.
After a welcome drink, we'll enjoy a seafood lunch on board while we cruise among the breathtaking scenery...what a way to spend the day! Soak up the majestic atmosphere from the top deck and enjoy the stunning views or relax below in comfortable surroundings. We'll also explore some of the grottos or caves that have formed in many of the islands that fill Halong Bay.
We return to Hanoi by road in the late in the afternoon, where you have a chance to reflect on this memorable day.

We had a great day out on Halong Bay. The guide was knowledgable, personable and had spent a lot of time there.

Halong Bay itself was excellent and I appreciated that the whole boat was reserved for only our small group of 9 persons. I was also appreciative of the fact that you catered for my allergy to seafood & fish by providing very tasty chicken, pork and meat alternatives. The only thin g was the very long drive there and back – 4 hours each way. I noticed that other coaches were travelling faster – perhaps because your coach springs were not so good? My back was sore at the end of the day by all the jolting going over the unavoidable bumps on the road.

We had a great guide and a fantastic day only 5 on the tour so plenty of attention. Great seafood lunch. We visited the caves and toured around with the boat and viewed the fish farms and mountains. I was very disappointed because the water is not blue and never is! The traffic to Halong bay took forever a new freeway going in so check how that is going before u book your tour!!

Ky was an absolutely brilliant guide. His knowledge, passion and willingness to share personal experiences made the long bus trip to Halong Bay enjoyable. I will definitely book urban adventures again because of Ky.

Our tour guide Quan was well informed with many facts about hanoi itself and Halong Bay. I learnt a lot of new information and really enjoyed my experience at Halong Bay! They were even kind enough to drive us to our hotel in Halong Bay which really impressed us, thank you!

Overall, the tour was great, but a little bit exausting on the bus for return way from HAN to HALONG. If poss, seats should be more comfy, then customers would be more happy even with the long duration in transfers.

If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many Intrepid Urban Adventures destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.
