Local Prague guide Jay Pesta takes us through some of his favourite experiences in his home city.
Where would you take your Mum on her birthday for a special local lunch?
The roof terrace restaurant of the Hotel U Prince, a hidden place above the Old Town Square.
What is your favourite view of your city?
Letna Park is a place where you can see people inline skating, cycling, jogging, kicking back and most of all - drinking beer! The park probably has the largest open-air pub in the city where hundreds of locals meet every evening after work. Here, you can also catch wonderful views of Prague, beautifully illuminated in the evenings.
Where would you go/or have you been on a first date?
The small paddle boats on the Vltava River next to the Charles Bridge are a great way to escape the crowded streets.
What is your favourite pastime in your city?
Watching movies at the open-air cinema located on Sharpshooter's Island (Strelecky Ostrov in Czech). You can reach the island via the Bridge of Legions (next to the famous Charles Bridge). This island is off the tourist trail, yet provides one of the best views of the historical centre. Every summer the movies start after sunset (at about 10 pm) and afterwards, you can sit and relax with a glass of wine at the sandy tip of the island facing the Old Town. You'll find yourself nestled in between the busy night life on both riverbanks, yet you'll only hear the water lapping at the shore while enjoying the view of Charles Bridge and the church domes of Prague.
What is your favourite local snack and where do you get it from?
The tasty sausages sold from the food stands at Wenceslas Square.
