    • Guide was knowledgeable, quite a lot of places visited in such a small area, the visit to the YHA site was unexpected and amazing, although I did suggest that showing guests a few photos of how locations used to look around 150 to 200 years ago would make the experience more interesting. While I did enjoy the full package, I do wonder if some people are detracted by the cost of this tour, and whether it's worth offering the tour section for $70-$80 and allowing guests to purchase their own meals and drinks separately rather than everything being included. I know personally I'd be more inclined at first to book a $70 tour than a $150 one.

  • Tour snapshot

Step back to a magical time when rum was a currency, and Sydney's harbourside area of the Rocks was filthy rich with it. See local drinkers in their natural habitat, join them in their ablutions and learn about why rum was worth rebelling for… then and now.

Proceeds from all Sydney tours departing on February 28, 2015 will be donated to the #hopeforSkye campaign to help children with Sanfilippo Syndrome. For more information, visit urbanadventures.com/blog/blueskyforskye.

  • Alright, let’s get to know Sydney a little better – what do you say?

Wind your way through the back alleyways, up the steps and back in time to uncover the stories and people who shaped this fledgling colony. Hear all about Sydney’s oldest pubs, the first breweries, amazing convict tales, and a rebellion over the most precious drink of all… rum!

As Australia’s first neighbourhood, the Rocks was literally cut from the sandstone cliffs that rise above Sydney Harbour. On this Sydney walking tour, we’ll carve out a narrative of this neighbourhood’s history, starting with the convicts that were forced to settle here and their amazing tales of survival and entrepreneurship.

Along the way on this Sydney Rocks tour we’ll make pit stops at some classic local spots, starting off with a wine tasting in the heart of the Rocks and a lesson in wine appreciation and the local industry. From there, we’ll explore the once seedy back alleyways, which today are very safe and feature many great photo opportunities.

Next up, you’ll take a break from all that walking and relax over dinner (gourmet burger or vegetarian option included) with a matched craft beer at a historic pub.

Fuelled up, we’ll delve deeper into some of the most unique and off-the-beaten-track parts of the Rocks. Not only will you get to work off your meal and hear more intriguing historical stories, but we’ll also visit an archaeological site like no other in Australia, before hunkering down to enjoy one last beer together.
