Culture shock rating
Worried we’re going to shock your senses? Relax! We believe part of the fun of travel is immersing yourself in the destination and its culture, meeting the people, and learning what makes the place tick. We’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The cultural shock rating ranks how different the experience is from most Western cultures. But no matter the level, don’t worry, you’ll have a local, in-the-know guide with you every step of the way.
Low
Consider these tours your 101 intro to a place. Transportation might be private or a very comfortable public option, and the activities are usually visits to iconic sites and locations that are familiar to most Western cultures – but that will still give you fantastic insight into a destination.
Medium
Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether that’s on a packed public bus or in a local market off the tourist trail. There might be a few language barriers or unfamiliar cultural customs, and you’ll get an experience different from what you're used to at home.
High
You're out there in the global community! We’re going to take you down streets you’d rarely explore on your own, introduce you to local customs and languages, and take you for a ride in whatever transport is available. Get ready to take it as it comes, whatever comes. There might be a shock, but oh man, it’s worth it.

Physical rating
Worried our tours are too tough? Relax! From leisurely strolls to muscle-burning treks, we’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The physical grading gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour.
Low
Slow and steady is all you need here. These tours have very limited physical activity, such as walking relatively flat streets, sites, or markets, and climbing in and out of the transport provided.
Medium
Not too hard, not too soft, these tours are just right! You can expect a bit of physical activity, but nothing overly challenging – perhaps walking up and down hills, riding a bike for up to 30 kilometers along mostly flat terrain, or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.
High
Get ready for a workout! These tours are our most challenging and involve intense walking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, or bike riding. You could be making steep climbs by foot or pedal, or working your core in the water. We recommend you have a good level of fitness to join this tour.

This tour is a combination of three of our most popular tours in Baltimore: Iconic Baltimore: Inner Harbor, History in the Making and Fells Point Happy Hour
Your total day tour of Baltimore begins in the Mount Vernon neighborhood, at the George Washington Monument to be exact, where we will get you up to speed with the history of this great port city and the changing architecture of the area.
From here, we will make our way down Charles Street, where your guide will point out several buildings of interest — such as filming locations for some of TV’s most popular shows. Fun fact: many shows that are supposed to be set in Washington DC are actually filmed in Baltimore because of the similarities in their neighborhoods’ architecture.
Soon we will arrive at the Baltimore Basilica. Conditions permitting, your guide will take you inside the columned entrance to marvel at the domed ceilings, prayer chapels and works of art.
Our next destination is inside the Mount Vernon Marketplace. Inside this former-warehouse is one of the city’s most popular new hubs for artisanal food and drink. Your guide will show you to his or her favorite spot and order up a bite for the group to enjoy.
We’ll then head back out to see a few more sights before making our way to a nearby coffeehouse with an international flare. Your guide will happily suggest their favorite cookie to go along with your beverage of choice.
After the Mount Vernon tour, we will take a short break together before taking a light rail ride to the starting location of the Inner Harbor tour nearby.
We’ll make our way to Camden Yards Sports Complex — at the feet of one of Baltimore’s most celebrated sons, Babe Ruth. Here, we’ll talk Baltimore sports and fill you in on the city’s transportation history before setting out to see more famous sights of Baltimore! Your guide will point out several locations of historical and architectural interest, including a railroad station, beautiful churches and the Baltimore Convention Center.
Then we’ll hop on the bus where your guide will fill you in on his or her favorite recommendations for shopping, museums and other interests and continue on to taste one of Baltimore’s most famous dishes, crab, at a popular seafood joint that locals have voted “Best Place to Get Crab.”
Weather-permitting, you’ll begin the over-water part of your tour next, onboard one of the Inner Harbor’s many ferries. Aboard the ferry, you’ll have a unique perspective and a beautiful view of the harbor and its attractions — seeing modern-day Baltimore while experiencing the same (albeit much shorter) journey that many early settlers experienced hundreds of years ago.
After disembarking the ferry, we’ll take a walk to a delightful artisan fudge store, to indulge our sweet tooth, passing the USS Constellation as we go.
After a short rest we’ll take another bus ride to join the final part of the tour, which begins in Broadway Square in the waterfront neighborhood of Fells Point. From here, you’ll discover the cultural and ethnic history that has given Baltimore its diverse culinary offerings.
We’ll visit a small shop packed with history and get a chance to meet the owner.
Next, we head to the Broadway Market, the oldest market building in Baltimore. Here, you’ll taste another Eastern European import, the pierogi, while your guide tells you tales of some of the market’s more colorful characters.
From the Broadway Market, we’ll make our way towards a sweeter stop at a local cafe. Still thirsty? Enjoy a beer as we take in the sunset on the deck, or inside the gorgeous bar of a nearby hotel.
Once you finish your brew, we’ll head to our final destination of the day: a historic saloon. Here we’ll taste one of Baltimore’s lesser-known snacks and you’ll have an opportunity to buy a beer at the very same location of Poe’s final drink.
If you’re still hungry when your tour is over (unlikely!), your guide will be happy to give you his or her recommendations for dinner or drinks in the area. Don’t forget to ask for tips on what else to see and do while you’re in the city too!
