Culture shock rating
Worried we’re going to shock your senses? Relax! We believe part of the fun of travel is immersing yourself in the destination and its culture, meeting the people, and learning what makes the place tick. We’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The cultural shock rating ranks how different the experience is from most Western cultures. But no matter the level, don’t worry, you’ll have a local, in-the-know guide with you every step of the way.
Low
Consider these tours your 101 intro to a place. Transportation might be private or a very comfortable public option, and the activities are usually visits to iconic sites and locations that are familiar to most Western cultures – but that will still give you fantastic insight into a destination.
Medium
Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether that’s on a packed public bus or in a local market off the tourist trail. There might be a few language barriers or unfamiliar cultural customs, and you’ll get an experience different from what you're used to at home.
High
You're out there in the global community! We’re going to take you down streets you’d rarely explore on your own, introduce you to local customs and languages, and take you for a ride in whatever transport is available. Get ready to take it as it comes, whatever comes. There might be a shock, but oh man, it’s worth it.
Physical rating
Worried our tours are too tough? Relax! From leisurely strolls to muscle-burning treks, we’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The physical grading gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour.
Low
Slow and steady is all you need here. These tours have very limited physical activity, such as walking relatively flat streets, sites, or markets, and climbing in and out of the transport provided.
Medium
Not too hard, not too soft, these tours are just right! You can expect a bit of physical activity, but nothing overly challenging – perhaps walking up and down hills, riding a bike for up to 30 kilometers along mostly flat terrain, or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.
High
Get ready for a workout! These tours are our most challenging and involve intense walking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, or bike riding. You could be making steep climbs by foot or pedal, or working your core in the water. We recommend you have a good level of fitness to join this tour.

Tour snapshot
Long celebrated as Romania's outdoor capital and undoubtedly Transylvania's prettiest town, Brasov is never in a hurry to do anything. So even if the German Saxons (the founders of the city) brewed a mean weizen for more than 1,000 years, the recent craft beer revolution has arrived, just like spring in this mountain city, very late and very quickly. This tour offers you the opportunity to taste the best local beers in Brasov’s hippest bars and learn the stories behind them, as you stroll the charming streets and admire the many pretty squares and historic monuments that help to make this Romania’s most beautiful city. Beer and culture? Sign us up!

They say that beer makes history better and we think that you will agree by the end of this tour! We’re confident that we’ve come up with the most fun way to discover our beautiful city, combining beer with a stroll through the charming streets of beautiful Brasov.
We will greet you in front of Brasov City Hall (known by locals as Primarie), next to the Roman she-wolf statue. Following a brief introduction to the area, we will make our way to our first stop to meet a local street food vendor to sample a traditional Romanian street pastry — we can’t have you drinking on an empty stomach can we?!
Time for our first beer of the evening. We’ll head over to one of our favourite bars, just a short walk away, where we will enjoy a local craft beer accompanied by a traditional cheese platter (prepared with a twist) — delish! We’ll chat about the brewing processes applied here and the passion that goes into beer-making in Romania.
Throughout the tour, we’ll talk about the up-and-coming craft beer scene in Brasov and introduce you to our local history and culture with a carefully curated assortment of tales that are sure to get you bang up to date!
With our beer buzz setting in, we will continue our walk through some of the Old Town’s most scenic streets offering you the chance to discover some of the main tourist highlights which perfectly reflect the city’s Saxon past.
Next on our agenda is another hidden gem, one of our favorite small squares in the city where we’ll find another hip bar with a great atmosphere that you’re sure to love. As we walk you will discover intriguing sights, such as the former red light district, the third narrowest street in Europe and the location of the last sizable gothic church in southeast Europe. Upon arrival we will continue with our stories and local beer exploration as we taste one of the most famous of the Romanian communist beer brands
Our last stop will be at a bar which offers the largest choice of Romanian craft beers in town. We’ll order one more beer here and continue our stories about this great city, which was once besieged unsuccessfully by none other than Vlad Tepes (aka Dracula).
Our tour ends here but before you go, don’t forget to ask your local guide for tips on what else to see, do and eat during your stay. It’s very likely that you will choose to continue exploring Romanian craft beers after the official end of your tour; feel free to stay a little longer, chatting with the very interesting local crowd. More often than not, we'll be more than happy to join you!
