Culture shock rating
Worried we’re going to shock your senses? Relax! We believe part of the fun of travel is immersing yourself in the destination and its culture, meeting the people, and learning what makes the place tick. We’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The cultural shock rating ranks how different the experience is from most Western cultures. But no matter the level, don’t worry, you’ll have a local, in-the-know guide with you every step of the way.
Low
Consider these tours your 101 intro to a place. Transportation might be private or a very comfortable public option, and the activities are usually visits to iconic sites and locations that are familiar to most Western cultures – but that will still give you fantastic insight into a destination.
Medium
Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether that’s on a packed public bus or in a local market off the tourist trail. There might be a few language barriers or unfamiliar cultural customs, and you’ll get an experience different from what you're used to at home.
High
You're out there in the global community! We’re going to take you down streets you’d rarely explore on your own, introduce you to local customs and languages, and take you for a ride in whatever transport is available. Get ready to take it as it comes, whatever comes. There might be a shock, but oh man, it’s worth it.
Physical rating
Worried our tours are too tough? Relax! From leisurely strolls to muscle-burning treks, we’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The physical grading gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour.
Low
Slow and steady is all you need here. These tours have very limited physical activity, such as walking relatively flat streets, sites, or markets, and climbing in and out of the transport provided.
Medium
Not too hard, not too soft, these tours are just right! You can expect a bit of physical activity, but nothing overly challenging – perhaps walking up and down hills, riding a bike for up to 30 kilometers along mostly flat terrain, or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.
High
Get ready for a workout! These tours are our most challenging and involve intense walking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, or bike riding. You could be making steep climbs by foot or pedal, or working your core in the water. We recommend you have a good level of fitness to join this tour.

Your private Bratislava-Vienna tour will kick off in Bratislava with a cheerful welcome and a short introduction to the city. From our meeting point, we’ll walk toward the city’s medieval tower, which offers a beautiful bird’s eye view of the rooftops of old town.
From the tower, we’ll continue through SNP Square, a symbol of Bratislava’s independence and the end of the Communist regime — it was here that the iron curtain fell in November 1989.
Then, walk through the streets of the old town, passing by interesting buildings such as the “Blue Church” on our way to visit a local underground gallery. Inside the gallery, we’ll grab a small bite to eat and a glass of wine, and you can check out the art on display with the owner of the gallery there to answer your questions.
From the gallery, we head back to old town for a delicious tapas lunch in a stylish restaurant, accompanied by the finest Slovak wine, of course! We’ll then burn off our lunch with a walk towards the riverbank of the Danube. And trust us, you’ll need to burn up some of that food, as we’ll make two more stops on route: one for a taste of the best ice cream in town, and one for a small espresso!
After our dessert, we’ll head down to the river, passing by one of Bratislava’s most charming squares. At the port, you’ll hop on board a speed boat for a trip on the water to Vienna, Austria. (The ride takes about 80 to 90 minutes.) You’ll say goodbye to your Slovakian guide here, but because you’re still our guest while you’re on the boat, we’ll give you a voucher for a drink; we suggest a mini bottle of Austrian sparkling wine.
We’ll dock in Vienna in the heart of the city, at Schwedenplatz. You’ll meet your Austrian guide as soon as you step off the boat, to begin part two of your private two-city adventure!
First up, we’ll stop at the coffee shop where it all began: a historic site that has been serving coffee nearly every day since 1685. You’ll enjoy a tasting of pastry in one of the most prestigious coffeehouse in Vienna.
Sufficiently caffeinated, we’ll then walk along the city’s historic centre toward the Opera House, stopping by the Albertina Museum. Your guide will explain the story of the magic square between the Opera House, the Albertina museum and the famous Hrdlicka monument.
Ready for another nibble? Good! Because the century-old Naschmarkt, easily one of Europe’s best open-air markets, is waiting for you! This mile-long market has over 120 food stalls, plus some delectable restaurants cooking up some of the best food in the city. We’ll try a few tapas, then head to a world-famous chocolate shop. In between all these bites and tastings, we’ll also grab a cold drink in one of the vibrant bars right at Naschmarkt.
From Naschmarkt, you’ll head to the train station, where you’ll depart the city and head back to Bratislava (the train ride takes 60 to 70 minutes).
This tour is priced for a minimum group size of two travellers. A solo traveller may still book this private experience but will be charged the base rate for two travellers.
