Each year during the mild Canberra autumn weather, the hot air balloons gather for a Balloon Spectacular — taking off at dawn to drift across the lake and float around the surrounding peaks. There is no better time to have an early start and enjoy a truly memorable experience of the dawn breaking over the gorgeous Lake Burley Griffin than when the sky comes alive with the huge colourful hot air balloons.
After the sun rises we’ll stop for a short break to enjoy some fresh fruit and juice (included in price) before gliding back across the water to watch the morning light kiss the surrounding peaks and greet the new day.
Your guide will help launch your kayak then lead you to some of the best vantage points on the lake for the sunrise and to watch the balloons take off. And will introduce you to some waterbirds along the way as they look for their breakfast.
The Balloon Spectacular is in the second week of the two-week Enlighten Festival. Check out the whole program for the Enlighten Festival here: http://enlightencanberra.com/.
