Get ready to discover the best that Abu Dhabi has to offer with the help of a local guide. After being picked up at your hotel, you’ll travel by air conditioned private car to the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Along the way, we’ll see a lot of new development happing on the outskirts of Dubai where the government is getting ready for Expo 2020.
Our first stop on your private tour will be Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the main place of worship in the city, which can accommodate up to 42,000 worshippers. This ornate mosque is a piece of art and a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. Note that since this is a functional place of worship, women will need to be covered head-to-toe with long pants, long sleeves, and a headscarf, and men will have to wear long pants. Visiting the mosque will give you the opportunity to learn about the main religion of the UAE.
Our next stop will be Abu Dhabi Heritage Village, where we’ll get a glimpse into the city’s past. The reconstruction of a traditional Emirati village shows us what life was like in the UAE before the oil boom. Here you’ll get to see replicas of old souks (Arabic for marketplace), Bedouin tents set up with campfires, a mosque, palm tree houses, a goat’s hair tent, and a traditional falaj irrigation system.
Then we’ll move on to the marina area where you’ll be able to see old boats that were once used for pearling, and we’ll stop by the local date market in case you want to buy some dates to take home as souvenirs. We’ll also stop to take photos by five-star hotel Emirates Palace, one of the most iconic hotels in Abu Dhabi.
Before we leave Abu Dhabi we’ll take a drive to Yas Island, a natural island featuring several popular attractions, including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi. Feel free to buy yourself lunch at Yas Mall and snap some photos of Ferraris at Ferrari World.
Our last stop will be the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital, the largest falcon hospital in the world and a highlight of our tour. The falcon is the UAE's national bird and you’ll learn about the life of falcons and their importance in both the city’s past and its present. You’ll also get to see the birds undergoing feather repair and visit the falcon museum before departing for our return trip to Dubai.
