Your Las Palmas tour begins with a gentle stroll as your guide introduces you to the city. As we walk, we’ll pass Santa Catalina Park, a famous park where all the major city celebrations take place.
Next you’ll have a chance to walk along the famous Las Canteras beach, one of the longest and most iconic urban beaches in Europe, where tourists, surfers, and locals alike enjoy their time by the ocean. You’ll also get to see La Puntilla Beach, where the Moby Dick movie was filmed.
Moving past the crowds, we’ll be able to get a glimpse of the completely undiscovered La Isleta peninsula, a natural protected area, to take a photo of its stunning wild coast.
We’ll also pass by Mercado del Puerto, which serves as a farmers’ market during the day before turning into a vibrant street food spot in the evening.
We’ll then take a public bus (as the locals do), and drive all the way to the neighbourhood of Vegueta, the oldest part of the city known for its colourful colonial architecture, where you’ll get to snack on some local food. On the way, you’ll get a great view of the marina.
If we can, we’ll pay a visit to Mercado de Vegueta, the oldest market in the Canary islands to taste some local fruits.
Then we’ll pass by the historical point where the city of Las Palmas was founded, the famous Santa Ana cathedral and Casa de Colon (Columbus Museum).
A walk along the less crowded streets of the Triana neighbourhood will inspire you to take beautiful pictures of the area’s colourful houses that date back to colonial times.
Since you’re likely getting hungry by now, we’ll stop by a local cafe or restaurant to enjoy a typical Canarian lunch, made with local ingredients.
We’ll finish our tour at San Telmo park, which was once the first harbour of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. From here it’s very easy to get a bus or taxi back to the Las Canteras/port area. Feel free to ask your guide for suggestions for what else to see and do during your stay.
