Slow and steady is all you need here. These tours have very limited physical activity, such as walking relatively flat streets, sites, or markets, and climbing in and out of the transport provided.

Not too hard, not too soft, these tours are just right! You can expect a bit of physical activity, but nothing overly challenging – perhaps walking up and down hills, riding a bike for up to 30 kilometers along mostly flat terrain, or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.

Get ready for a workout! These tours are our most challenging and involve intense walking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, or bike riding. You could be making steep climbs by foot or pedal, or working your core in the water. We recommend you have a good level of fitness to join this tour.

Ready to bundle up and get into the holiday spirit? Our fun and festive tour of the city starts in Prešeren Square, where Ljubljana’s main Christmas tree is located, and where we’ll get to see a beautiful nativity scene found in a church that’s also an iconic city landmark. After our church visit, we’ll stroll by the river and head to our first Christmas market where you’ll get to immerse yourself in local Christmas traditions with your guide. At this point, you may have noticed the plethora of twinkling lights all around you. But these aren’t just any Christmas lights; Ljubljana puts a particularly unique spin on its holiday lighting, which your local guide will explain as you admire (and snap photos) of the sparkling displays.
Continuing down the road we’ll experience Christmas through the eyes of a child as we will stop to visit a Christmas tree decorated by local kids in Ljubljana’s town hall. The enticing scent of warm drinks will lead us over one of Ljubljana’s many bridges to a 19th century building, where upon reaching the third floor, we’ll get a bird eye’s perspective of the decorated heart of the city as well as the beautifully illuminated Ljubljana castle. Here you’ll have a chance to warm up with some hot tea and snap some pictures of Ljubljana that not many visitors to the city ever get to take.
Next, we’ll continue to our second market where we’ll taste the best mulled wine in the city and enjoy even more of festive spirit Ljubljana is known for. Warmed up by our wine, we’ll make our way to the city’s main Christmas market area, which finishes with an open-air nativity scene made of hay. Along the way, you’ll learn about the tradition of gift giving in Slovenia and enjoy some more mulled wine.
Since you can't visit Ljubljana without tasting the best hot chocolate in the city, we’ll finish up our tour in a warm and cosy spot in the historic Old Town sipping hot chocolate among locals. Afterwards, you can hang around, or return to any of the places you’ve learned about on the tour.
