Your Seville tour will kick off with a great view, right at your meeting point! From here, you'll be able to see the whole city, to the other side of the Guadalquivir River. We'll discuss the history of this special area of Sevilla, including some of its most famous elements: flamenco, ceramics, the Inquisition and bullfighting.
As we walk through the narrow streets and alleys, you'll discover some of the traditional architecture and see the old shared patios, known as “corralas”, and learn how people have lived here over the years.
The most important week for Sevillians is Holy Week, and in order for you to understand the importance of this religious festival, we'll visit one of the most idolized brotherhoods. We'll take a look inside the church to see the Virgin Mary. Your guide will also show you some pictures and videos about the processions, so that you can get a full appreciation for what Seville is like during Holy Week.
Next up, we'll walk to the ceramics area, which is full of shops and workshops, where artisans are busy creating and painting traditional tiles and pieces, all by hand. You'll have the chance to talk with some of them if you'd like to ask any questions.
We'll then visit the Castle of Saint George, an historic prison where the Spanish Inquisition tortured and killed many of their prisoners, all in the name of God. We'll talk about this dark episode of Spanish history.
At the end of your tour, we will visit a local food market to taste some delicious tapas and have a drink, while we discuss the origin of Flamenco music, as well as everything else that makes this district of Triana so special and unique.
