Sometimes writer, always explorer. You'll often find me drinking wine, dressing up, in a foreign country, eating American food or sitting in a dive bar. Sometimes all five at once.
Oh, Melbourne. You wonderfully fun, culture-embracing babe! Victorian townhouses sitting side-by-side with warehouse conversions, beautiful parks scattered through eclectic neighbourhoods, incredible murals flanking the tiniest of alleyways, trams that give way to cars, cars that give way to pedestrians and pedestrians that, well, rule the streets. Vintage stores with enough floral shirts and high-waisted denim to make The Love Boat jealous, pop-up eateries aplenty, a live music scene to rival that of Seattle and N’awlins, actual good coffee, enough craft breweries to poke a Philly cheesesteak at and… festivals. Erry. Weekend. And one of the biggest and best on every good beer-loving Melbournians calendar?
Good Beer Week, happening every May.
Good Beer Week is the single largest platform for local brewers to showcase themselves to a broad audience. Run by an independent, not-for-profit association, GBW holds over 300 events across Melbourne and Victoria each year that attract 75,000 people from around the globe. These are events that include international guests, big-name chefs, masterclasses, sublime degustations and live music. Chuck it in the diary.
Thirsty and can’t wait until May? Hop on one of these amazing beer tours around the world.
