The annual #streetfood50 Awards recognise the top street food vendors around the globe, handpicked by Urban Adventures’ own local guides-in-the-know. Local vendor Adrien of Terasa Obor received top accolades from our Bucharest tour guides for the best street food in Bucharest in 2018, for his mici recipe.

Obor Market has been a local favourite since the 19th century and the popular market has been going strong ever since as a place to not only stock up on produce and other local goods, but as somewhere to meet, eat and enjoy life. Adrien owns Terasa Obor (Obor Terrace), which specialises in Bucharest’s famous skinless sausage called mic (plural: mici).

The meat arrives in the early morning, a mix of beef and pork that, when combined with spices and grilled, makes for an iconic, traditional dish that pairs perfectly with a cold beer. The traditional order, loved by locals, is two to four mici with mustard, two fresh buns and, of course, a cold beer.
