Locals know, you’re often served fish in Copenhagen. Denmark is surrounded by water, so naturally, fish plays a huge role in local cuisine and one of the best places to get your fish fix in Copenhagen is Hooked Seafood Kitchen, which started out as a food truck but now has locations in both Nørrebro and Vesterbro. While known for their fantastic fish and chips (made with pollock and served alongside vinegar fries, pea/mint mash and tartare sauce), you can also find everything from salmon burgers to lobster rolls (American and Asian) on the menu. Wash down you fish dish of choice with a local beer, organic juices, wine, and even creative cocktails on tap.
You can choose to sit in, or take your goods to go, and no matter what you order, it will be fresh, filling, and tasty. In terms of the aforementioned fish and chips, expect flaky, tender fish in a satisfyingly crunchy batter that’s neither too thick nor too thin in proportion to the fish. Portion sizes are very generous, so make sure you bring your appetite if you plan on visiting (which you should). They are open for lunch and dinner, Monday to Sunday and the kitchen stays open until 2 a.m.
