There are so many amazing memories and experiences, but the one to have the biggest impact on my life was probably the night I got invited to dinner at a family’s house in Marrakech, Morocco. The meal was amazing and they wouldn’t let me leave. I stayed with them two and a half months and became their adopted daughter. We cooked, danced, ate, laughed, and sang together. That experience unknowingly paved a path for the rest of my life.
Growing up, I loved learning languages and always wanted to live abroad in order to master them. I was also a natural party planner and entertainer. Once I lived abroad, my passion for entertaining and exploring other cultures combined into jobs in travel, first working at the Visitor’s Information Center in Hollywood, then selling tours to Galapagos in Ecuador, and eventually as a tour guide for Intrepid Travel in Morocco!
The passion for adventure and fun–we SO need to spread that! There’s such a push for radically alternative tourism and creativity in Urban Adventures, which is something I thrive off.
Ooooh, such a tough question. Besides the cities I have already lived in and loved, I have always wanted to live in Rio. I think I could stay there forever – I have a feeling my soul would click with that city.
Don’t try to drive everywhere! (Especially not during rush hour.) Take advantage of the Metro lines and stay somewhere near the Red Line if possible. Your touring experience will be so much less stressful!
