The best places to have breakfast in Tbilisi

The best places to have breakfast in Tbilisi

Tbilisi doesn’t tend to wake up very early, so there is no significant breakfast culture here – if you’re Georgian you’re likely in a hurry to get where you’re supposed to be in the morning and probably a little late already, so a quick coffee with something sweet, or a piece of khachapuri (cheese pastry) from yesterday is usually enough. Or, if you are absolutely not in a hurry, you would likely get up late and start your day with a proper lunch.

However, being a traveller is a hard job and you need a lot of energy for all that exploring and adventuring, making a big healthy breakfast essential to start the day off right. That’s why the local team in Tbilisi have created a list of cozy breakfast places we know you’ll love!

Pancakes and coffee at Restaurant Skola

Breakfast at Skola

Skola

Right next to the Rustaveli theatre on the city’s main avenue, this place opens in the morning to keep you fueled with really good coffee and European-style dishes like pancakes, omelets, and sandwiches. This is also a great place to have a glass of wine in the evening. Expect a minimalist interior, big windows, lots of light, and friendly staff.

Entrée

Entree is actually a chain of cafe/bakeries, so you’ll just need to find the one closest to you when you’re ready for breakfast. The vibe here is relaxed and easy, and they serve nice croissants and other pastries, as well as good coffee, and a variety of sandwiches.

MEMO Coffee

If you happen to be residing in the posh district of Vake, visit this cozy little spot on Abashidze Street. You’ll have your pick of avocado toasts, berry bowls, and really good coffee to choose from. The interior is very hipster and Instagram-worthy. There are also tables to sit at outside during the summer season.

Paul

Paul is a French chain of bakeries which you might have seen in other countries. Some say the best croissants in Tbilisi are here, but don’t set your expectations too high. Tbilisi is sometimes called the Paris of the Caucasus, but the croissants might not match up to what you’ll find in France. That being said, Paul makes for a good place to have a filling morning meal.

Breakfast at Lolita, Tbilisi

Lolita

If you do wake up late but still prefer to have your breakfast (or rather brunch) in style, this is the place to be. Say hello to the people you’ve been partying with last night, hide you tired eyes behind trendy sunglasses, and enjoy some fresh air. Yes, Lolita is located in the courtyard and you can sit outside all year round. But don’t worry, there are some pretty powerful heaters to keep you warm while you’re eating your waffles with Nutella during the colder months.
