Top 5 Places to Stay Cosy in Paris

March 05, 2014
Urban Adventures

If you’re in Europe, North America, or anywhere else that is suffering from extreme cold right now, we feel for you. With plenty of destinations across the globe, many of us are battling through it too, and desperately clinging onto the thought that spring is just around the corner… hopefully!

At this time of year, Paris is just about starting to look sunnier, but there’s still a bit of a brisk chill in the air. It’s a gorgeous, indulgent city at any time of year, of course, so even if you’re visiting on the rainiest of days, you’ll find plenty of nooks and crannies to tuck yourself away into. Just in case you need some pointers, here are our top 5 picks for places to go and things to do in Paris to stay warm and cosy.

5. Le Verre Volé

One of our favourite ways to stay cosy is with a glass of wine (we know, stating the obvious!). Le Verre Volé to the north of the city is unassuming, humble, and full of wine – it’s literally shelved from floor to ceiling. It also has the tiniest of kitchens in which the most delicious accompaniments to said wine are prepared. Reservations are an absolute must, as this spot is a local favourite.

4. Soya

Soya Paris

Set in an uber-cool loft space, Soya is one of the few great vegetarian restaurants in Paris. Here you can opt to share a bench and table space with some fellow diners, or keep the seating arrangements a little more private with your own table.  Lasagnas, tarts, curries, and desserts are just a few of the sumptuous dishes to list from Soya’s menu.

3. La Pâtisserie des Rêves

Nothing says cosy quite like baked goods, we’d say. The name ‘La Pâtisserie des Rêves‘ translates to ‘the bakery of dreams’, and they were certainly not far off in their estimations when the owners named this place. Preserved like precious jewels under giant glass bells, the treats you can tuck into at La Pâtisserie des Rêves taste infinitely better than they look, and as you can see from the picture, they look pretty amazing. Actually, let’s be honest, they look mouth-wateringly delicious.

2. Coutume Café

It might not be as aesthetically cosy as a few of our other picks, but the real reason why we’ve put Coutume Café on this list is because nothing warms us up better than a smashing cup of coffee. The owners of Coutume Café are self-declared modern artisans, and quite rightly so. This isn’t just a good ol’ cup o’ joe – this is a work of art, with added caffeine. If you like your coffee straight and to the point, this is the place to find it. If you like your coffee jazzed up and as creative as possible, this is also the place to find it. Their espressos have been approved by Kanye West. (Not a joke – it’s true!)

1. Chez Paul

Time to get très Parisien. Chez Paul is a bit of a local institution in Paris, the perfect place to have dinner if you want to feel that chic, traditional Paris bistro atmosphere. Even the menus, all covered in swirly French handwriting, scream Paris. Bon appétit!
