Culture shock rating
Worried we’re going to shock your senses? Relax! We believe part of the fun of travel is immersing yourself in the destination and its culture, meeting the people, and learning what makes the place tick. We’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The cultural shock rating ranks how different the experience is from most Western cultures. But no matter the level, don’t worry, you’ll have a local, in-the-know guide with you every step of the way.
Low
Consider these tours your 101 intro to a place. Transportation might be private or a very comfortable public option, and the activities are usually visits to iconic sites and locations that are familiar to most Western cultures – but that will still give you fantastic insight into a destination.
Medium
Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether that’s on a packed public bus or in a local market off the tourist trail. There might be a few language barriers or unfamiliar cultural customs, and you’ll get an experience different from what you're used to at home.
High
You're out there in the global community! We’re going to take you down streets you’d rarely explore on your own, introduce you to local customs and languages, and take you for a ride in whatever transport is available. Get ready to take it as it comes, whatever comes. There might be a shock, but oh man, it’s worth it.
Physical rating
Worried our tours are too tough? Relax! From leisurely strolls to muscle-burning treks, we’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The physical grading gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour.
Low
Slow and steady is all you need here. These tours have very limited physical activity, such as walking relatively flat streets, sites, or markets, and climbing in and out of the transport provided.
Medium
Not too hard, not too soft, these tours are just right! You can expect a bit of physical activity, but nothing overly challenging – perhaps walking up and down hills, riding a bike for up to 30 kilometers along mostly flat terrain, or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.
High
Get ready for a workout! These tours are our most challenging and involve intense walking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, or bike riding. You could be making steep climbs by foot or pedal, or working your core in the water. We recommend you have a good level of fitness to join this tour.

Turkey is a country filled with unique landscapes, and Cappadocia is no exception. Journey with us on an out-of-this-world Cappadocia tour that travels through the regions’breathtaking landscapes, valleys, and towns.
After being picked up from your hotel, we’ll arrive in Devrent Valley after a short 10-minute drive. This is where we first meet the lunar landscape of Cappadocia, a moment you won’t be forgetting in a hurry after this Cappadocia tour.
After some explanation from our guide who knows all the local stuff about the history, culture, and the geological formations of Cappadocia, we’ll set out to get right to the heart of this fairytale land. Up first, Devrent Valley — also known as “imagination valley.” The unbelievable rock formations make this is a geology nerd’s paradise! Next is Pasabag Valley (or Monks Valley) where we’ll climb into a fairy chimney chapel to check out the three heads dedicated to St Simeon.
We’ll continue on to visit the famous Zelve Open Air Museum to see the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia. We’ll also make stops at the Geyikli Kilise (the Church with the Deer) and Uzumlu Kilise (The Church with Grapes) before giving you some free time to explore this deserted cave village now part of UNESCO heritage sites.
With all that exploring, you’ll be hungry and ready to rub shoulders with locals and enjoy a pide or gozleme for lunch!
After lunch, we’ll check out the abandoned city of Cavusin with its cave mosque, pigeon houses, church, and homes. Everything manmade in Cavusin was carved into the rocks in this area, giving you the chance to see a truly fascinating way of life and ancient tradition that you might not find on other tours in Cappadocia.
Avanos, the centre of terracotta artworks since 3000 BC, will be our next stop on this Cappadocia tour. Here you’ll see traditional pottery workshops and demonstrations, and glimpse into the world of pottery as it was thousands of years ago. This is such an integral part of local culture in Cappadocia that you would be crazy not to see it during your visit, and what makes this tour so special is that you will have the opportunity to make your own clay pot if you wish, with the local craftsmen to help you polish up your skills.
We’ll make our final stops at the Uchisar and Pigeon Valley, and Estentepe, where you’ll be able to taste some Turkish tea and enjoy the stunning views of Goreme Valley — what a way to finish this adventure! As this Cappadocia tour comes to a close, you’ll be taken back to your hotel in the centre of Cappadocia, or your driver will also be happy to drop you off at local transport stations if needed.
