Hungry and ready to cook? We hope so! Once you meet your guide it’s a 30-minute drive outside of the city to the San Phi Suea district where our destination is a local home. Here you’ll be introduced to the most important ingredients in Thai cuisine — and learn to use those ingredients to create some seriously delicious Thai dishes.
This home cooking lesson is provided for a maximum of four participants each day, meaning you’ll be getting personalised attention as you cook. Baan Chao Na provides a pleasant and unique learning experience featuring a menu of three to four authentic Thai dishes, which may include a soup, stir-fry, salad, appetizer and dessert.
Some of the ingredients you’ll be using come straight from the on-site, organic garden, including chili, galangal, ginger, lemongrass, holy basil and other Thai herbs. You can also find out some of the health benefits of each ingredients from your host.
We’ll have a refreshing drink before embarking on our culinary journey, included coffee or tea or drinking water.
As the lesson begins, your host will demonstrate various techniques and provide step-by-step instructions as we delve into each dish. You can expect a relaxing atmosphere by the Mae Ping River, and the best part comes when you taste your own Thai cooking. We’re betting you’ll say, aroi, which means “yummy” in Thai!
We will try to accommodate special requests such as vegetarian or vegan diets, a preference for non-spicy food, or some food allergies. Please notify us ahead of time. You can do so in the special request box on the checkout page.
After your dishes are done, it’s time to chow down! After all that cooking, you’ll have a chance to relax and enjoy the fruits of your labour. If you can’t finish all your Thai creations, feel free to take them home with you. Your host will then drive you back to the city.
Before you go, don’t forget to ask your host for advice on what else to see and do during your stay in Chiang Mai.
