Culture shock rating
Worried we’re going to shock your senses? Relax! We believe part of the fun of travel is immersing yourself in the destination and its culture, meeting the people, and learning what makes the place tick. We’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The cultural shock rating ranks how different the experience is from most Western cultures. But no matter the level, don’t worry, you’ll have a local, in-the-know guide with you every step of the way.
Low
Consider these tours your 101 intro to a place. Transportation might be private or a very comfortable public option, and the activities are usually visits to iconic sites and locations that are familiar to most Western cultures – but that will still give you fantastic insight into a destination.
Medium
Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether that’s on a packed public bus or in a local market off the tourist trail. There might be a few language barriers or unfamiliar cultural customs, and you’ll get an experience different from what you're used to at home.
High
You're out there in the global community! We’re going to take you down streets you’d rarely explore on your own, introduce you to local customs and languages, and take you for a ride in whatever transport is available. Get ready to take it as it comes, whatever comes. There might be a shock, but oh man, it’s worth it.

Physical rating
Worried our tours are too tough? Relax! From leisurely strolls to muscle-burning treks, we’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The physical grading gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour.
Low
Slow and steady is all you need here. These tours have very limited physical activity, such as walking relatively flat streets, sites, or markets, and climbing in and out of the transport provided.
Medium
Not too hard, not too soft, these tours are just right! You can expect a bit of physical activity, but nothing overly challenging – perhaps walking up and down hills, riding a bike for up to 30 kilometers along mostly flat terrain, or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.
High
Get ready for a workout! These tours are our most challenging and involve intense walking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, or bike riding. You could be making steep climbs by foot or pedal, or working your core in the water. We recommend you have a good level of fitness to join this tour.

This is a combination of our top-selling Lima tours: our Lima Coast Biking and Lima Discovery. Get the total Lima experience in one epic full-day adventure!
Much more than just a Lima city tour, this combo bike adventure and walking tour will show you all kinds of hidden gems inside the city – and outside of it, too! From the old to the artistic, get ready to see a side to Lima you’ve never seen before.
First up, you’ll travel up to Morro Solar, one of the hills surrounding the city, where you can take in a stunning view of the shimmering Lima Bay – an unmissable sight and one of the best things to do in Lima. After a quick safety briefing from your local guide, it’s time to hop on your bike and cruise downhill, stopping off at several points along the way to gain insights into Lima’s fascinating history.
After you’ve worked those legs a little, you’ll stop to have a rest at a quaint seaside neighbourhood named Chorrillos, favoured by fishermen and full of local Lima tales. Your journey will then take you onwards towards the bohemian district of Barranco, a lively a vibrant area full of artists, musicians, and writers.
You’ll glide through areas full of street art and murals, stopping off every now and then to take some sweet photos that will make friends back home ooze with jealousy. You’ll ride up along the coast, taking in the gorgeous views of the glittering Pacific Ocean before riding into the Miraflores district.
It’s here that the biking portion of your tour ends. You’ll leave your wheels behind and your guide will show you where to gather for the walking portion. If you’re hungry, your guide will recommend some good spots to grab a snack before we start up again.
The guide for the second half of your tour will take the Metropolitano bus, so you can ride into downtown just as the locals do. This public transportation system connect the modern part of Lima with the historic district. The journey to downtown takes about 30 minutes.
Before the exploring begins, we’ll stop to taste one of the best coffees in the world, Peruvian Tunki coffee.
You will then walk to main square in Lima, Plaza de Armas, located in the heart of the old town and home to the Government Palace, Archbishop´s Palace and the Cathedral. This is the top tourist spot in the city.
Next up, we’ll do a bit of shopping at the colourful Central Market. Together we’ll navigate our way through all the various stalls, checking out the fresh products and learning about the eating habits of the locals. From jungle, to coast, to ‘altiplano’, or high plains, Peru has a rich and diverse food culture, and you’ll find examples of dishes from all over the country here at this market, and learn about them from a local.
The breathtaking Basilica of San Pedro is next, a building so rich in history that it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site back in 1991. As you take in the views of the building and this square, your local guide will be filling you in on its history.
This Lima tour will come to an end here. You can continue to explore the city on your own from here or your local guide will be able to point you in the direction of your accommodation.
