Culture shock rating
Worried we’re going to shock your senses? Relax! We believe part of the fun of travel is immersing yourself in the destination and its culture, meeting the people, and learning what makes the place tick. We’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The cultural shock rating ranks how different the experience is from most Western cultures. But no matter the level, don’t worry, you’ll have a local, in-the-know guide with you every step of the way.
Low
Consider these tours your 101 intro to a place. Transportation might be private or a very comfortable public option, and the activities are usually visits to iconic sites and locations that are familiar to most Western cultures – but that will still give you fantastic insight into a destination.
Medium
Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether that’s on a packed public bus or in a local market off the tourist trail. There might be a few language barriers or unfamiliar cultural customs, and you’ll get an experience different from what you're used to at home.
High
You're out there in the global community! We’re going to take you down streets you’d rarely explore on your own, introduce you to local customs and languages, and take you for a ride in whatever transport is available. Get ready to take it as it comes, whatever comes. There might be a shock, but oh man, it’s worth it.
Physical rating
Worried our tours are too tough? Relax! From leisurely strolls to muscle-burning treks, we’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The physical grading gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour.
Low
Slow and steady is all you need here. These tours have very limited physical activity, such as walking relatively flat streets, sites, or markets, and climbing in and out of the transport provided.
Medium
Not too hard, not too soft, these tours are just right! You can expect a bit of physical activity, but nothing overly challenging – perhaps walking up and down hills, riding a bike for up to 30 kilometers along mostly flat terrain, or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.
High
Get ready for a workout! These tours are our most challenging and involve intense walking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, or bike riding. You could be making steep climbs by foot or pedal, or working your core in the water. We recommend you have a good level of fitness to join this tour.

The world’s greatest fictional boxer summed it up perfectly when he said, “it ain’t about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!” Thank you Rocky Balboa for your infinite wisdom. At The Fighting Chance, we believe in this statement wholeheartedly. We work with people who have taken a few knocks in life and support them to rebuild their lives by utilising the fundamental principles of boxing: discipline, self-control, mental strength and respect.
Our corporate team-building days will give you and your team an opportunity to learn the basics of boxing, find out about our vital work and be inspired by the success stories of past participants. The great thing is, not only will you be helping your team to become better at what they do, you’ll also be supporting a programme that strives to help others be the best they can be too.
The aim of our non-profit organisation is to support disadvantaged people from all backgrounds facing multiple barriers, to get back to work. We work with the long-term unemployed: ex-offenders, armed forces veterans, those with health conditions and the homeless, and we work closely with them to improve their physical and mental health. As well as boxing classes, we also provide 1-2-1 support from an employment coach and short-term and long-term employability support. All the proceeds from your team building day will be re-invested into ‘The Fighting Chance’ to continue to help those that need it.
We can customise your team building day to meet the needs of your organisation, no problem; but here’s a typical itinerary to give you an understanding of what we can do with you and your team:
10.00 - Register and change into your training gear. Grab a power snack and your water bottle and prepare for an enjoyable day ahead.
10.30 - Meet The Fighting Chance team and hear the story of the organisation and hear the true life stories of people, who were helped by the program.
10.45 - Meet our guest speaker, a former champion boxer, who will share with you his approach to boxing and life.
Q&A session followed by photo opportunity.
11:15 - Short break
11.30 - Boxing training: includes warm-up and cooldown; footwork; partner drills; shadow boxing and punching technique. Finally, step into the ring, test out what you've learned and throw some punches. Non-contact of course!
13.00 - Shower break
13.30 - Training summary. Share your impressions and learnings. How do you think today’s activity will help you in your everyday life?
Hoodie presentations — get your boxing club hoodie souvenir!
14:00 - Take a short walk to a local historic pub (with strong links to boxing history) and grab a filling lunch, mingling and sharing informal impressions from the day.
15:30 – Your boxing team-building day ends
