Culture shock rating
Worried we’re going to shock your senses? Relax! We believe part of the fun of travel is immersing yourself in the destination and its culture, meeting the people, and learning what makes the place tick. We’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The cultural shock rating ranks how different the experience is from most Western cultures. But no matter the level, don’t worry, you’ll have a local, in-the-know guide with you every step of the way.
Low
Consider these tours your 101 intro to a place. Transportation might be private or a very comfortable public option, and the activities are usually visits to iconic sites and locations that are familiar to most Western cultures – but that will still give you fantastic insight into a destination.
Medium
Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether that’s on a packed public bus or in a local market off the tourist trail. There might be a few language barriers or unfamiliar cultural customs, and you’ll get an experience different from what you're used to at home.
High
You're out there in the global community! We’re going to take you down streets you’d rarely explore on your own, introduce you to local customs and languages, and take you for a ride in whatever transport is available. Get ready to take it as it comes, whatever comes. There might be a shock, but oh man, it’s worth it.

Physical rating
Worried our tours are too tough? Relax! From leisurely strolls to muscle-burning treks, we’ve got a wide range of tours with something for everybody. The physical grading gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour.
Low
Slow and steady is all you need here. These tours have very limited physical activity, such as walking relatively flat streets, sites, or markets, and climbing in and out of the transport provided.
Medium
Not too hard, not too soft, these tours are just right! You can expect a bit of physical activity, but nothing overly challenging – perhaps walking up and down hills, riding a bike for up to 30 kilometers along mostly flat terrain, or jumping in a kayak for a gentle paddle on flat water.
High
Get ready for a workout! These tours are our most challenging and involve intense walking, hiking, kayaking, swimming, or bike riding. You could be making steep climbs by foot or pedal, or working your core in the water. We recommend you have a good level of fitness to join this tour.

Midtown Manhattan is at the center of it all with Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Terminal, and more. This is the neighborhood you think of when you think of New York City. Explore the neighborhood with our expert guides from Urban Adventures who give you the inside scoop on all the major sights.
Learn everything about Times Square from its beginnings as a way station along old colonial roads to its brilliant neon and theatrical present. See beautiful Rockefeller Center, its iconic skating rink, and amazing art work. You also visit Grand Central Terminal, one of the most beautiful and iconic train stations in the world. And along the way we feed you, too!
Your guide takes you to some of their favorite places to eat in the neighborhood, where you sample and snack your way through the afternoon on delicious foods from local shops. Tastes can include iconic pizza, gourmet coffee, and dishes that highlight New York City’s vibrant food culture. Many of the places we take you are really hidden away and while most visitors to New York City are stuck going to chain restaurants and Starbucks, the guests on our tour get a real taste of New York City while seeing some of the world’s most famous buildings, theaters, and avenues.
Our NYC tour starts outside Grand Central Terminal, the most historic transportation hub in the USA. We explore the massive building and its incredible architecture, and learn where you can grab some local NY State food and drink. You even take a hidden passage out to the street to avoid the crowds at the entrance — talk about a true secret insider’s tip!
Afterwards, we head out through the skyscrapers of Midtown where you uncover some shortcuts, tunnels, and a few hyper-local spots for dining and shopping — places you definitely would have never found on your own! The neighborhood might be filled with tourists and chain restaurants, but we’re here to help you discover the hidden local faves!
Of course, no tour of Midtown would be complete without seeing the bright lights of Broadway. Picture it: You’re standing right in the center of Times Square surrounded by flashing billboards, giant TV screens, and dozens of Broadway theaters, right in the midst of it all. Pretty epic feeling, right? While you’re soaking it all in, learn about the evolution of Broadway and how theater transformed Times Square from the middle of nowhere to one of the most famous destinations in the world. We also point out the hidden façades, history, and Broadway stories you might not have otherwise discovered. Plus, we share our tips for snagging discount theater tickets and tell you about our favorite shows, as well as where to catch great off-Broadway shows.
By the end of this tour, you’ll have some amazing photos in front of iconic buildings and landmarks, an insider’s local knowledge of the food and drinks scene, and the scoop on where to get discount theater tickets and catch great shows around the city.
